Islands in the sea is an American short film from the year 1960 .

action

There are some remote islands on earth that are home to unique wildlife. On the Galapagos Islands , these are animals such as the Galapagos tortoise , which can live to be 300 years old, iguanas , marine iguanas , the Galapagos shearling , the Galápagos penguin and the gannet , but also the frigate bird with its magnificent red throat pouch with which it is used Mating season tries to impress the females. The oystercatcher performs a dance during the mating season and later defends its young against crabs, which are flocked on the islands. This is followed by a short fight between two bad-tempered marine iguanas in front of a large number of spectators.

The Guadalupe Island is also home to a rare earth guest: the elephant seal , who has an entire harem full of females and who takes on every fight against a conspecific for the females.

On the Falkland Islands , the wart shags live in constant hostility to the seagulls that steal their eggs. The seagulls also regularly harass the island's gentoo penguins . The African penguins, in turn, sound like a donkey when they call. Another special feature are the rockhopper penguins , which despite their clumsy movement on land climb high rock walls to breed on the rock or on the plateau.

The albatross lives on the Midway Islands and , as the king of the skies, flies most of the time. It can do this gracefully, but has great difficulties with take-off and usually creates unaesthetic images when landing. From a global perspective, all islanders are not mass populations and therefore face an uncertain future.
