Intelsat 1R (formerly PanAmSat 1R or PAS 1R ) is a television satellite of the satellite operator Intelsat . The satellite was transported into space on November 16, 2000 for the PanAmSat company on board an Ariane 5 rocket from the Center Spatial Guyanais , the spaceport in Kourou / French Guiana . It offers capacities for telecommunications , Internet and radio services . As the PanAmSat 1R, this satellite was the largest and most powerful in the PanAmSat fleet.

The satellite has an expected lifespan of around 15 years.
