The International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) has developed into one of the largest student organizations in the world with eight member countries since it was founded in Tunisia in 1957 and is also one of the most important student associations in agricultural science. The IAAS brings together students and young scientists in the field of agricultural sciences and related fields such as environmental sciences , forestry , nutritional and food sciences , landscape architecture , etc. The individual IAAS committees are spread across universities in over 40 countries.
aims
- To foster the exchange of experiences, knowledge and ideas and improve mutual understanding between students in the field of agricultural science and related fields from around the world
activities
The IAAS represents students in agricultural and related sciences at an international level vis-à-vis universities, other relevant institutions in the field of university education and non-governmental organizations such as FAO , UNESCO , UNEP and others. The organization sees itself at the same time as a mouthpiece for the interests and views of the students concerned and as a learning platform for all of its members. With congresses , seminars , international exchange and the assumption of leadership positions in the national and international structures of the organization, the members are to be offered life experiences through informal learning that they cannot gain at the university.
World congress
The IAAS World Congress takes place annually in June / August and consists of the General Assembly and a two-week seminar.
Directors' Meetings
The so-called Directors' Meetings are, after the World Congress, the most important meetings for the respective regions. There is the ADM (African Directors 'Meeting), APDM (Asian Pacific Directors' Meeting), DMA (Directors 'Meeting of the Americas) and the EDM (European Directors' Meeting).
