International sticker award
The International Stickeraward was a prize for sticker art and paste-ups that was given to international artists from 2005 to 2012. The award was intended to show the diverse forms of expression of this art in public space and to give this art form greater weight in cultural life. To avoid prosecution, many artists used a pseudonym typical of the scene when participating .
The art prize, endowed with material prizes , was awarded annually to three artists of different nationalities. In 2012 an audience award was also awarded. For each year there was an exhibition that placed a special focus on winners and participants in the award. The International Sticker Award was organized by rebel: art and Stickma.de .
The jury was made up of international experts from the scene, journalists and former winners. Permanent members were the journalist and blogger Alain Bieber , the artist Andreas Ullrich and Matthias Speck from the adhesive magazine .

Exhibitions
2005 - ABC-Berlin
The first exhibition of the Sticker Awards took place in the Berlin Neurotitan Gallery as part of the exhibition The ABC of Resistance and was curated by Alain Bieber.
2006 - Marktstrasse Hamburg
The Hamburg-based market road was used as a public exhibition space in 2006, were to be seen in the sticker in their "natural" environment. At the closing ceremony there was a live performance by the winner of the year.
2007 - Grassi Museum Leipzig
Artifacts from the International Sticker Awards were presented in a special exhibition entitled "HELLO my name is ..." in the Grassi Museum in Leipzig. Among other things, the exhibition highlighted the ethnographic aspects of the international sticker culture.
2008 - FIT station
The annual exhibition of the Sticker Awards 2008 presented winners and selected participants in the Free International Gas Station in Berlin. The outer shell of the old gas station was opened as a free and temporary gallery for all sticker activists for graphic discussion. The program included a lecture and a discussion with the Hamburg street art collector and curator Rik Reinking .
2009 - Version Festival 10 in Chicago
A live jury debate was planned at Version Festival 10 in Chicago , but the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull shortly before the festival and the associated flight ban prevented a regular exhibition this year.
2010 - C.Rockefeller Center
As part of the “International Neighborhood”, the International Sticker Award was presented in the C. Rockefeller Center For The Contemporary Art , an off- space in Dresden. In addition to the winners and participants in the award, there were works by local screen printers , the newly published adhesive magazine and works from the collection of the C. Rockefeller Art Foundation by Ernst Markus Stein, Andreas Grahl, Manuel Frolik, Marcel Walldorf, Kay Frommelt, Andy Kania, Ronny Szillo and Nora Herrmann.
2011 - Weserburg Museum for Modern Art
In cooperation with the Study Center for Artist Publications of the Weserburg Museum for Modern Art in Bremen, the exhibition Sticker in Art was on view from November 2011 to February 2012 . The exhibition presented a collection of short-lived media such as postage stamps, flyers and posters, stickers from the museum's holdings and the sticker award archives - works from various decades of protest and participation culture as well as contemporary positions from art and everyday life. Well-known artists such as Andy Warhol and Timm Ulrichs , who experimented with stickers decades ago, were represented, as were the winners of the Sticker Awards, as well as installations by Matthias Marx, Daniel T. Geiger, Johannes Mundinger and Dirk Sandbaumhüter.
2012 - CYNETART sticker safari
The sticker exhibition was one of the participating projects at CYNETART . On an interactive safari, visitors were able to track down the best placed stickers at various locations in Dresden with the help of an augmented reality app. The winner of the year, Herman J. Hack, showed how to experiment with sticky things in public spaces.
