Now (previously Jetzt.de ) is an online magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung , which is aimed at 18 to 30 year olds. Among other things, it was awarded the Grimme Online Award for its work . The Süddeutsche Verlag labels various products with the signet now .

On 17 May 1993 for the first time appeared now - magazine as a supplement of the Suddeutsche Zeitung. From now on it was included with every Monday edition and has won numerous awards and prizes in the nine years of existence. Now it has become a reflection of youth culture and has been called the authentic voice of youth . Some young German writers, including Benjamin Lebert , worked on the editorial team of this youth magazine . A special Monday subscription to the Süddeutsche Zeitung was also offered for now readers. In 2002 the magazine was discontinued for cost reasons; the last issue appeared on July 22, 2002. As of spring 2011, which appeared now magazine four times printed in the supplement of the Suddeutsche Zeitung. In December 2017, Süddeutsche Verlag announced the discontinuation of the print edition at the end of the year.

Online magazine

The website Jetzt.de remained even after the magazine was discontinued. There, young people were given the opportunity to publish texts online. Until January 2016, a Jetzt.de page appeared every Monday in the national section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung and one every Wednesday in the local Munich edition. In December 2005 the site was fundamentally revised. The comprehensive relaunch was controversial with some users, as Jetzt.de was positioned more in the direction of a “young news magazine”. In June 2006 the site started the so-called “blog scholarship”, from September 12th of that year five selected bloggers (under 35 years of age) were supported with 300 euros per month. In autumn 2010 the website was visually redesigned again.

On January 25, 2016 was again a fundamental optical and content relaunch the side from jetzt.de was now . User contributions have not been published since then.

The editorial team has been headed by Charlotte Haunhorst since 2019. Christian Helten was editor-in-chief from 2013 to 2019 and Dirk von Gehlen from 2002 to 2013 .
