The International University of Cooperative Education Freiburg (IUCE) was a private dual university that offered practical dual study programs from 2009 to 2012. After the university had initially started teaching with the approval of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science and program accreditation from the ACQUIN accreditation agency , it was refused institutional accreditation in spring 2012 by the Science Council. As a result, the university became part and place of study of the Darmstadt International University of Cooperative Education through a cooperation agreement . Their state recognition was extended by the Hessian ministry to include the IBA study location in Freiburg, so that the international vocational academy was allowed to award state-recognized bachelor's degrees. The former IUCE has been part of the International Study and Professional Academy (ISBA) since June 1, 2017 . The concept of the ISBA, in which study units and practical assignments in companies alternate every three months, is comparable to the state concept of the vocational academy or the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University . In addition to a campus with infrastructure, the Freiburg location also has its own student residence with 114 apartments.

history

Former French consulate
Angell Business School

The former university rector Wolfgang Jäger was chairman of the founding commission of the IUCE Freiburg. The three shareholders of the university were its director Robert Wetterauer, his mother and one of his uncle. The university was part of the Angell network, on whose campus it is located. When it was founded, the renovated building of the former French consulate on Kronenstrasse and Lessingstrasse, which had been closed in 1992 for cost reasons, was used.

The IUCE courses were accredited on September 22, 2009 by the accreditation agency ACQUIN until 2014 (program accreditation). In the same year, teaching began with 31 students.

On January 30, 2012, the university was refused institutional accreditation by the Science Council because it did not meet the scientific standards of a university and the financing concept was classified as risky. The university announced the following month that it wanted to make improvements in order to still receive accreditation. In March 2012, the IUCE succeeded in forming a cooperation with the Stuttgart AKAD private university in order to ensure state recognition of the 30 graduates in autumn 2012. The students were thus able to complete the originally intended and state-recognized Bachelor's degree on the IUCE campus. Nevertheless, around 35 students left the university, although they were able to continue their studies at other educational institutions with recognition of their previous achievements. The university was taken over by the Darmstadt IBA in August 2012, including the teaching staff and students. The IUCE now exists as a service manager and employs administrative staff. Wetterauer acted as authorized signatory and represented the IBA in Freiburg. The IBA later no longer uses the former consulate, but has rented another building on the Angell campus.

The former IUCE has been a location of the ISBA - Internationale Studien- und Berufsakademie gGmbH since June 1, 2017 . The ISBA, like the IBA, is owned by the F + U group of companies . In addition, the Kolping-Bildungswerk Württemberg and the Angell-Akademie are involved in the ISBA, which was created in 2015 when the North Hesse vocational academy moved to Saarbrücken. The reason for the change from IBA to ISBA was the possibility of being able to offer bachelor's degree programs as dual, part-time further training courses. This is provided for in the Saarland Vocational Academy Act, but not in the Hessian one.

International Business Management

The International Business Management course is divided into three module groups. The two module groups business administration (international business) and economic disciplines ( economics , law, mathematics, statistics, languages, subjects for teaching social and methodological skills ) are attended by students from all study areas. The third module group is the hotel management, real estate management, marketing and sports management study areas.

The bachelor's degree to be acquired entitles the holder to study for a master's degree at another university.

physical therapy

In cooperation with the ANGELL Academy, an integrated bachelor's degree in physiotherapy is offered.
