IGEB Research Prize (formerly Thelen Prize)
The IGEB has been awarding a research award since 1994. Until 2016 it was named the “Thelen Prize” in memory of its co-founder Fritz Thelen , from 2018 it also commemorates the other co-founder Wolfgang Suppan and bears the name “IGEB Research Prize”. This prize, which is advertised every two years, is only awarded if there is a sufficient number of participants and high-quality dissertations . The award draws attention to the goals of the organization and generally to brass music research and encourages research into these. The additional recognition award honors outstanding dissertations in the field of wind music research.
