The young musicians also had the opportunity at the Bayreuth Easter Festival 2007, where Antonio Salieri'sPrima la musica e poi le parole ” was performed under the musical direction of Christoph Ulrich Meier in the Margravial Opera House , in 2008 at Gluck's Iphigenie in Tauris and in 2009 with Handel's Alcina in to participate in an opera project. The orchestra academy is sponsored by the International Young Orchestra Academy Culture and Social Foundation. The main goals of the cultural and social foundation are to help children with cancer in the region through donations from the concerts and the proceeds from CD sales, the promotion of young musicians and international understanding through the joint music-making of musicians from all over the world.

The concert program will be recorded over two days under professional guidance. Since 2006 this has been done in co-production with Bayerischer Rundfunk Klassik

After the anniversary years of Franz Liszt (2011) and Richard Wagner's (2013), the great symphony orchestra of the IJOA in 2016 focused on the Upper Palatinate composer Max Reger , as 2016 marks the 100th year of his death. The large symphony orchestra of the IJOA had some of the master's works on the program and, with the concert venues in Weiden, Bayreuth, Selb and Jena, traced the stages of his life. After that, works by Mahler, Brahms, Wagner and Bruckner filled the program.

Another pedagogical pillar in the structure of the Foundation for the Promotion of Young Musicians are the International Masterclasses, in which there are targeted shortage of instrumentalists from the Orchestra Academy, such as B. double bass players are encouraged. The courses combine a wide variety of goals. The focus is always on promoting young, talented musicians, and the courses also offer the opportunity to involve young regional musicians in the lecturers' rehearsal work.

In 2019, the International Young Orchestra Academy received the Bayreuth Culture Prize from the City of Bayreuth for exceptional achievements in the fields of music, literature, painting, the fine arts and science. The city council made the final decision on the award.
