Dorian Keilhack

Dorian Keilhack (born June 24, 1967 in Erlangen ) is a British - German pianist and conductor .

Dorian Keilhack is the son of the music teacher Dirk Keilhack (* 1941; † January 1, 2010 in Erlangen ), who works at the Christian-Ernst-Gymnasium in Erlangen, and the pianist Vivienne Keilhack.

Keilhack started playing the piano at the age of six. After graduating from high school, he studied piano and conducting at the music academies in Nuremberg and Freiburg and, supported by a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service , at the Juilliard School in New York .

After completing his studies, he initially aimed for a solo career as a pianist. As such, he has performed with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, among others .

From 1998 to 1999 he was a répétiteur at the Städtische Bühnen Nürnberg , after which he moved to the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck , where he worked as a répétiteur, conductor and assistant to the musical director. At the same time he was artistic director of the Tyrolean ensemble for new music. In 2005 he went to the Erfurt Theater as Kapellmeister and director of studies . In 2007 he was a guest at Theater Lübeck , in 2008 he made his debut at the Zurich Festival as director of the Collegium Novum Zurich.

In August 2008 he took up his position as first conductor of the Stadttheater Bern .

Since 2001 he has been a regular guest conductor of the Collegium Musicum, a summer academy for young musicians in Weissenstein Castle in Pommersfelden in Upper Franconia .
