International Mountain Film Festival Tegernsee

The International Mountain Film Festival Tegernsee is a mountain film festival that has been held annually in Tegernsee in Upper Bavaria since 2003 . Besides the Graz Mountain and Adventure Film Festival and the Banff Mountain Film Festival , it is now one of the most important international festivals of its kind. The festival is part of the International Alliance for Mountain Film . The term mountain film is interpreted broadly within the framework of the festival, so that feature films , nature films and sports films are shown at the festival . Michael Pause , the moderator and director of the Bergauf-Bergab show at Bayerischer Rundfunk, is responsible for the artistic direction of the festival . The initiator and co-founder of the festival is the documentary filmmaker Otto Guggenbichler . Heiner Geißler has been the patron of the festival since it was founded .

An international jury will award the following prizes over the course of the five-day event:

  • Grand Prize of the City of Tegernsee (€ 3,000)
  • Prize of the German Alpine Club for the best alpine film in the category "Mountain Adventure" (€ 1,000)
  • Prize in the "Mountain Natural Area" category (€ 1,000)
  • Prize in the "Mountain Habitat" category (€ 1,000)
  • Special price in an annually changing category
  • Young Talent Award (€ 1,000)
  • Award for the best camera performance (undoped)
  • Prize for the most convincing landscape representation (undoped)
  • Prize for the special film (undoped)

There is also an audience award (undoped)

In addition to the large number of films shown, the mountain film festival is accompanied by a supporting program of panel discussions, exhibitions and other events.
