Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 1997

The 32nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival took place from July 4th to 12th, 1997 in the Czech Republic . The film festival presented a total of 297 films from 46 countries in various categories, which were seen by over 100,000 visitors.

In the competition for the main prize, the crystal globe , there were several film entries, which were awarded by an international jury chaired by Robert Wise (USA). Other jury members were: Mariano Barroso (Spain), Ellen Burstyn (USA), André Delvaux (Belgium), Nana Jordschadze (Georgia), Pavel Kohout (Czech Republic), Milan Lasica (Slovakia), Miroslav Ondříček (Czech Republic) and Aruna Vasudev (India ).

  • Ecumenical Prize: The Forgotten Light by Vladimir Michalek
  • Special prize: Jugofilm by Goran Rebic and The Forgotten Light ( Zapomenuté světlo ) by Vladimír Michálek
