International classic car meeting Baden-Baden

The International Oldtimer Meeting Baden-Baden takes place every year on the second weekend in July at the Kurhaus Baden-Baden . The classic car meeting is traditionally a Concours d'élégance automobile.

history

The first classic car meeting in Baden-Baden was organized by Jean-Marc Culas, spa director Carl Friedrich Burger and Erich Braxmeier in 1976 - with a field of 35 historic vehicles. Around 1000 visitors came to Baden-Baden's spa gardens to marvel at the vintage cars. Since then the event has grown continuously. In 2019, a total of 365 classic cars from 81 different brands took part.

Over 350 vehicles and around 20,000 visitors from all over Europe take part in the classic car meeting. After the death of the initiator Jean-Marc Culas in 2011, his son Marc Culas took over the organization of the event and continues it in the spirit of his father. Every year a different car brand takes center stage as the guest of honor brand. In 2011, the 125th anniversary was celebrated together with the guest of honor Mercedes-Benz at the classic car meeting.

Concours d'élégance

Vehicles of all brands , makes and models up to year of construction 1970 are admitted to the Concours d'élégance . The ceremonial award ceremony on Sunday is the annual highlight of the event. The 120 most beautiful vehicles are honored.

Jury and evaluation

The assessment distinguishes between vehicles that were manufactured before or after the Second World War . The prizes are awarded in different categories. A total of 120 prizes will be awarded.

Evaluation criteria for the jury are:

  • Status
  • Rarity
  • originality

The jury consists of automobile designers , engineers and representatives of the organizer.

Prices

In 2012 the following trophies were awarded:

  • Grand Prix (until 1945) - The main prize for pre-war vehicles
  • Grand Prix (after 1945) - The main prize for post-war vehicles
  • Grand Prix of the guest of honor brand - main prize for the most beautiful classic of the guest of honor brand
  • Clara and Karl Zimmer Prize - Honorary prize in memory of the Zimmer couple for the rarest vehicle
  • Erich Braxmeier Prize - Erich Braxmeier was the great sponsor from the very beginning. Memorial prize for the most beautiful classic car from Baden-Baden
  • Prize of the City of Baden-Baden - Prize for the classic automobile with the longest journey
  • Prize Baden-Baden Health & Tourism - For the most elegant touring car
  • Price of Casino Baden-Baden - Every year is awarded this prize to the most exciting, participating for the first time automotive veterans
  • Price Badische Latest News - prize for the most beautiful classic cars from Nordbaden
  • Julius Schmauder Prize - This prize is awarded to the most beautiful German pre-war car in memory of driver Julius Schmauder
  • Raymond Berg Prize - This prize is awarded in memory of the Bugatti enthusiast Raymond Berg for the most elegant Bugatti
  • Charlie Kappler Prize - This prize is awarded in memory of one of the most successful racing drivers of the 1920s for the most exciting racing car
  • Raymond Berg Prize - This prize is given to the sportiest classic car
  • 15 × 1st - 3rd prizes each in the respective vehicle categories

Supporting program

Before the start of the classic car meeting, the participants will have a two-day trip (a so-called “ rally ”) to the Black Forest and Alsace . The Friday and Saturday program for visitors and participants traditionally includes a nostalgic garden party all about classic automobiles in the Baden-Baden spa garden. This is traditionally decorated with countless lanterns and various illuminations . In addition, fashion shows and musical performances such as B. Jazz concerts offered.
