Interreligious Council of Russia
The Interreligious Council of Russia (.. Russ Meschreligiosny sowet Rossii / Межрелигиозный совет России (МСР); scientific transliteration Mežreligioznyj sovet Rossii . Also Mezhreligioznyy sovet Rossii; English Interreligious Council in Russia) brings together leading representatives of the four largest denominations in the country: the Russian- Orthodox Church , Islam , Judaism and Buddhism .
history
The Interreligious Council of Russia was formed on December 23, 1998. It consists of the chairmen of the Moscow Patriarchate , the Russian Muftirate , the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims in Russia , the Congress of Jewish Religious Organizations and Associations in Russia, and the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia.
The initiative to build the organization came from the Russian Orthodox Church. Self-declared goals are the implementation of joint activities, the fight against the exploitation of religious feelings to fuel intra-ethnic conflicts as well as the dialogue with state Russian and foreign authorities.
