Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia

The Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia (Russian Buddiskaja tradizionnaja sangcha Rossii / Буддийская традиционная сангха России; scientific transliteration Buddijskaja tradicionnaja sangcha Rossii ; abbreviation BTSR ) is a central religious organization in Russia. It is the largest Buddhist community in Russia . Its head is the Khambo Lama ( Buryat. Bandido Hambo Lama) from the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism, based in the Iwolginsky Dazan Buddhist monastery (Иволгинский дацан / Ivolginsky Datsan) in Buryatia near the Buryat capital Ulan-Ude . The current XXIV Pandito Hambo-Lama is Damba Ayusheyev . The Buddhist University Daschi Tschoinchorlin, which opened in 1991, is operated at the monastery.
In 1997 the organization was renamed to its current name at the All-Russian Buddhist Congress from the Central Spiritual Administration of Buddhists . It includes monasteries and communities in Buryatia , Kalmykia , Tuva , Altai and in the cities of Irkutsk , Omsk , Chita , Saint Petersburg and Moscow .
The organ of the organization is the magazine " Legshed " (Легшед).
