Inva Mula , also Inva Mula-Çako or Inva Mula-Tschako , (born June 27, 1963 in Tirana ) is an Albanian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Inva Mula's father Avni Mula is a well-known Albanian singer and composer who nurtured his daughter's musical talent from early childhood.

Inva Mula studied singing and piano in her native Tirana. In 1987 she won the Këngëtarja Shqiptare singing competition in Tirana, in 1988 the George Enescu competition in Bucharest and five years later the butterfly competition in Barcelona . In 1993 she also received an award at the first Plácido Domingo opera competition Operalia in Paris.

Her collaboration with the conductor Riccardo Muti was important for Mula's career . She now sings in Tokyo, Toronto, Bilbao, Trieste, Paris, Toulouse, Berlin, Hamburg, Verona, Milan, Vienna, Geneva, Los Angeles and Madrid. Her roles include Gilda in Rigoletto , Musette in La Bohème , Violetta in La traviata , Micaela in Carmen and Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor .

Through her interpretation of the aria from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor in Luc Besson's science fiction film The Fifth Element , she also became known outside of high culture. She only lends the diva her voice in the film, which is embodied by Maïwenn .

As part of her social commitment, she visited z. B. at the invitation of Mother Teresa Germany e. V. the Children's Hospital of the University Clinic in Pristina . Affected by the poor medical care for the children, she gave an opera gala in November 2007 for the benefit of the clinic.

Inva Mula was married to the Albanian singer and composer Pirro Çako from 1987 to 2009 . The marriage ended in divorce.
