Music style and lyrics

On Invoking the Majestic Throne of Satan, the band continues the style they have adopted since their debut album Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult . The production, however, is a bit stronger, more bass-heavy and more punchy than its predecessor.

Dagon unusual vocal style was compared to a croaking ravens and more like a grunt than in Nordic Black Metal usual screaming vocals . He reads the texts “in a calm and deliberate, obsessive and tortured manner”.

The music varies between slow and fast, blastbeat- heavy passages. The texts deal with the invocation of Abbadon , Satan and other demons , the fight against God, his angels and Christian and Judaism, human sacrifice to Baal and suicide in the name of Lucifer .

Reviews

The reviews emphasized the originality of Dagon's singing as well as the musical style. Dagon's riffing and Incubus' drumming and the style of the band in general were also described as unique.

Aceust from Hateful Metal emphasized to readers who do not know the band: “Inquisition is probably one of the (or even the) grimest, most blasphemous and most consistent Black Metal band (s) ever! Anyone who claims to the contrary has not understood Black Metal itself, and fortunately one can only say that the discs of such a truly elitist musical conspiracy will not be found in any mail order. ”The only drawback is given that The sound of the somewhat stronger, more bass-heavy and punchy production, however, no longer matters after listening to it several times. The album does not quite come close to the debut album, which “in view of the facts was only logical and to be expected. Nonetheless , this band remains an absolute and unrivaled band in Black Metal that no one can hold a candle to. Absolute elite of the extra class! "

Stéphane von Guts Of Darkness described the album as "close to perfection" in terms of composition as well as the state of mind and ambience achieved. Rarely had he felt "an opus so much hatred, or at least in this way", which is comparable from the religious and pernicious side with bands like Malign and Ofermod .

Karsten Heim of Metalnews described the album in his review of the successor Magnificent Glorification of Lucifer as a "piece of fervent worship of Satan " and a "milestone in Black Metal"; he praised Inquisition as "one of the most original bands of the present and spearhead of US Black Metal". Nin Chan from Last Rites, on the other hand, wrote in his review of the successor that the album could not compete with the debut album Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult , but was one of the best of the year.
