Music style and lyrics

The music is still in the style that has been typical of the band since the debut album Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult . There have been no drastic stylistic changes, but the music has "become a bit calmer, more spherical and, on the whole, more varied, despite all the brutality." The band combines Black- and heavy metal - riffing , the pieces are kept repetitive and simple characteristic is a "throaty, pressed Chanting, in the entire scene, both technically and atmospherically has no equal."

The texts deal with topics such as animal sacrifices , the fight against Jesus Christ , invocations of Satan , self-mutilation in his name and the worship of Lucifer .

Reviews

Brandon Stosuy of Pitchfork Media praised the album; it "really brings Satanism back into Black Metal". The music is "damn grim, the definition of monolithic". T. DePalma of Chronicles of Chaos said the band's formula worked in the past and will work again in the future, but not on this album. He prefers the raw mixes of the better pieces on the EP Unholy Inquisition Rites . According to Stéphane von Guts of Darkness , the band was bursting with creativity; even though the style elements remained the same, the work rose above its predecessors. According to Karsten Heim from Metalnews , the band couldn't beat their previous album Invoking the Majestic Throne of Satan , “and it would have been hard to imagine. You have to call that piece of fervent worship of Satan a milestone in Black Metal. But that doesn't mean that 'Magnificent…' didn't turn out to be a good album! "The band manages to" pervert a melody that any other band would have to be called rocky , even life-affirming, as diabolical as in the hymnic mid-tempo- Track 'Of Blood…' […] What the album lacks compared to its predecessor, however, are the really outstanding numbers. The ingenious perverse melodies mentioned, which made 'Invoking…' such a unique work, have faded a little on the present album or are not quite as powerful. "
