Ioannis Ketseas

Ioannis Ketseas ( Greek Ιωάννης Κετσέας , born September 16, 1887 in Athens ; † April 6, 1965 ibid) was a Greek politician, banker, athlete and sports official. He was a member of the International Olympic Committee and the founding president of the International Olympic Academy .

Life

He was a very good tennis player and participated in the Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens in 1906 in doubles, where he was fifth. In 1907 he won singles and doubles at the Greek Championships. In 1906 he was also Greek champion in high jump , whereupon he was reported to the Olympic Intermediate Games, but did not take part. In rowing , he finished second in a foursome at the Greek Championships in 1909. From 1929 to 1932 he was President of the Hellenic Athletics Federation , from 1939 to 1946 President of the Hellenic Tennis Federation and at the same time General Secretary of the Hellenic Olympic Committee . Here he worked for the Crown Prince Paul of Greece as President. In 1946 he was accepted as a member of the International Olympic Committee and was particularly committed to the establishment of the International Olympic Academy , which he successfully founded and which he led as founding president until his death. From 1953 to 1954 he was also President of the Greek Olympic Committee .
