Horst Ueberhorst

Horst Ueberhorst (born February 25, 1925 in Bochum ; † December 19, 2010 ) was a German sports historian . He was a professor of sports history at the Ruhr University in Bochum and editor of the six-volume collection of history of physical exercises.

Life

After graduating from the Pädagogium in Bad Godesberg Horst Ueberhorst sports, history, German and Protestant religion who studied University of Bonn . In 1952, with the work of Paul Ernst as a conservative-revolutionary popular educator and state thinker, he was awarded Dr. phil. PhD .

Horst Ueberhorst was a student councilor in Bad Godesberg, ministerial councilor in the Ministry of Culture of North Rhine-Westphalia and founding dean of the sports faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum. Gertrud Pfister and Hans Joachim Teichler were among his assistants . Due to his scientific merits, he was co-opted as an International Fellow of the National Academy of Kinesiology , Fellow of the European Committee for Sports History , member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Willibald Gebhardt Institute in Essen and the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History . The European Committee for Sports History has honored him since 1997 with the annual "Horst Ueberhorst Honorary (since 2011 Memorial ) Address".
