Iochroma lehmannii is a plant type from the genus of iochroma ( Iochroma ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Iochroma lehmannii is a small tree that grows 4 to 10 meters tall. Its young branches are somewhat purple and covered with triangular scales. The leaves are elliptical to lanceolate, 4 to 18.5 inches long and 2.5 to 10 inches wide.
The inflorescences consist of two to six flowers . The calyx is 5 to 7 millimeters long and not inflated. The yellow-green crown is funnel-shaped to bell-shaped and 2 to 3.5 centimeters long. Their inside is hairless, the outside hairy. The stamens become 1.5 to 2 centimeters long and are hairless or only sparsely hairy at the base. The anthers reach a length of 4 to 7 millimeters. The pollen consists of pollen grains with a diameter of 28 to 33 micrometers. The stylus is 1.2 to 1.6 millimeters long.
The fruit is a spherical or slightly conical berry with a diameter of 1 to 1.6 millimeters, which is surrounded by a greatly enlarged calyx.
Systematics
Phylogenetic studies classify the species with Iochroma squamosum in a common clade (clade L according to Smith & Baum 2006). Iochroma lehmannii is probably a parent species of the natural hybrid Iochroma ayabacense together with Iochroma cyaneum .
Spread and endangerment
Specimens of Iochroma lehmannii were mainly collected in southern Ecuador and neighboring Peru . The IUCN classifies this species as vulnerable (endangered), but recommends a review of this status.
