Ion Aurel Candrea
Ion Aurel Candrea (* 7. November 1872 in Bucharest , † 1950 in Paris ) was a Romanian linguist , Rumänist and ethnologist.
life and work
Candrea studied in Bucharest with Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu and from 1897 in Paris. There he was a student of Gaston Paris and Antoine Thomas . He received his doctorate from the Thèse d'Université Les éléments latins de la langue roumaine. Le consonantisme (Paris 1902). Then Candrea was a high school teacher in Craiova and Bucharest . From 1913 he taught at the University of Bucharest , from 1927 as a university professor.
