history

Iowa Highway 149 was created on October 16, 1926 from part of the former Iowa Highway 13 . He went from US Highway 63 north of Ottumwa to US Highway 32 (later US Highway 6 ) near the Amana Colonies . In March 1930, the highway was expanded north to Cedar Rapids . In 1985, the highway was shortened to its present northern end on US Highway 151 , which was extended along the former Iowa State Route 149 between US Highway 6 and US Highway 30, and the section between I-80 and US Highway 6 was to Iowa County Road V77. The southern end point was relocated twice. On July 16, 1997, Iowa Highway 149 went over an old alignment of US Highway 63 between today's US Highway 63 junction north of Ottumwa and today's Iowa State Route 23 junction. Later, on November 19, 2007, the Iowa Highway was expanded south to meet US Highway 34 in Ottumwa.
