Ipomoea mairetii is a plant type from the genus of Morningglory ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is common in America .
description
Ipomoea mairetii is a woody climber that often becomes very large and grows up trees. The trunks are densely silky or hairy somewhat tomentose. The leaves are long stalked ; the leaf blade is rounded-ovoid or almost kidney-shaped, usually 7 to 15 cm long or longer. To the front they are pointed or pointed, at the base they are weak or deep heart-shaped or three-lobed. The upper side of the leaf is mostly green in color and densely tomentose with hairy trichomes , the underside is very densely hairy, silvery-silky.
The inflorescences consist of several flowers , the inflorescence stalks are as long or shorter than the leaves. The persistent bracts are large, ovate and pointed or acuminate towards the front. The flower stalks are 1 to 3 cm long. The sepals are ovate or broadly ovate and 2 to 2.5 cm long, pointed and densely haired with silky hair. The crown is bright pink-purple in color and is 7 to 8 cm long. The corolla tube is densely hairy whitish on the outside.
The fruits are spherical, hairless capsules 1 cm in diameter . The seeds are blackish and finely hairy.
distribution
The species is common in Guatemala , Mexico , El Salvador and Honduras. It grows there in moist but also relatively dry thickets and forests, it can often be found in pine-oak forests. It prefers altitudes between 650 and 1900 m.
