Pensioners never have time is a German television series of the television of the GDR , which originated from 1977 under the direction of Horst Zaeske .

The focus of the series is on the experiences of the retired couple Anna and Paul Schmidt ( Helga Göring and Herbert Köfer ).   • The location of the series is the fictional town Neustadt with the zip code 7392 . Filming location for exterior shots, which in Neustadt played was Jüterbog . A house on the market served as the home of the Schmidt couple.
  • The series was a production made on MAZ . Exterior shots were mainly shot on 16 mm film, then cut as film, scanned and then inserted into the episode as a VTR sequence. In some cases, EB technology was also used for outdoor recordings . Interior recordings were produced in the earlier Jofa studios in Berlin-Johannisthal used by GDR television . Multi-camera technology was used here.
  • The series was broadcast for the first time from December 2, 1978 to April 14, 1979 on Saturdays at 7 p.m. on East German television. A single episode of 25 minutes was broadcast. For a repetition of the series, two episodes were later combined into one episode of around 50 minutes in length, with the end credits - with the exception of the copyright notice - being shown in full at the end of the first episode , while the series opening credits were shown at the beginning of the second episode was missing. The series is shown frequently in this form with ten episodes even today. The DVD box is divided into 20 episodes.

New performances

On August 26, 2011, the premiere of a new edition as a play in the Comödie Dresden took place (book: Christian Kühn / Herbert Köfer). Herbert Köfer takes on the role of Paul Schmidt again. Ingeborg Krabbe as Elvira Rosendorf , Uwe Karpa as Carsten Lowitzki , Dorit Gäbler as Ms. Jäckel , Kerstin Bruhn as Julia and Christian Kühn as Mr. Voss , Bondgirl 17 , Locke Junior and Marc Schuster also play other roles in the stage adaptation . Mirjam Köfer takes on the voice of a television presenter.

DVD release

In 2009 the complete series was released on DVD.
