Irma Münch (born May 15, 1930 in Sonneberg , Thuringia ) is a German actress .

Life

Irma Münch attended the drama school of the German Theater in Berlin from 1948 to 1951 . From 1951 to 1953 she had her first permanent engagement at the State Theater in Schwerin . The Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam followed from 1953 to 1958 and the German Theater in Berlin from 1958 to 1966 . From 1966 to 1990 she was a member of the drama ensemble of the German television radio ( DFF ) in the GDR . In addition to her theater roles, she starred in more than 100 television plays and films. In 1975 she received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Irma Münch was married to the actor Hans-Peter Minetti until his death and lives as a freelance actress in Berlin. She is the mother of the actor Daniel Minetti . In November 2017 she took on a role at the Konstanzer Theater as a guest actress in the play Yesterday is Another Day when she was on stage with her daughter-in-law Hannelore Koch . The play is about a conflict-ridden encounter between mother and daughter. When Irma Münch left her Berlin apartment and traveled to Konstanz for the theater performance, “she thought: This will be the last time I'll go to a premiere. “In an interview on the occasion of the premiere, she also commented on the question of why, as one of the most famous GDR actresses after 1990, she no longer got any film or television roles. She said: “And justament in 1990, after the so-called Wende and with the dissolution of German television, I became a pensioner. [After retiring] we should go to the TV companies and ask for work. [...] I didn't have to, and that was a godsend. But it was also a disadvantage. I thought to myself, I can't be that unknown, someone will knock on your door ... but puff cake! [...] And then came my stupid pride - no! I had to pay for that [...] I would have felt like a turning neck . Maybe also a false pride? "
