Renate von Wangenheim
Renate von Wangenheim ; born Renate Reinecke , (born April 21, 1944 in Wendgräben ; † December 19, 2016 ) was a German actress . She played under her maiden name in numerous DEFA films as well as films and series on GDR television .
life and work
Renate von Wangenheim was the daughter of the actress Charlotte Reinecke and the dramaturge and director Horst Reinecke . Her brother, Hans-Peter Reinecke (1941–2005), was also an actor. Her half-sister Ruth Reinecke is also an actress.
After studying acting at the drama school in Berlin-Schöneweide , she made her debut on a stage in Parchim in 1964 , before being a member of the Maxim Gorki Theater ensemble from 1965 to 2000 . Since the beginning of the 1960s, she has also worked in film and television productions for DEFA and German television . She became famous in 1973 with the television film Stülpner-Legende at the side of Manfred Krug and the much discussed film How should a woman decide? .
From 1989 until his suicide on April 6, 2001, she was married to the German director, author and writer Friedel Freiherr von Wangenheim .
