Jürgen Kern (actor)

Jürgen Kern (born March 13, 1940 in Chemnitz ) is a German actor and director .

Life

Jürgen Kern completed an acting training at the Leipzig Theater School and after an engagement as an actor in Gera moved to the Berliner Ensemble , where he received directing training as a master student of Manfred Wekwerth and Ruth Berghaus .

At the Berliner Ensemble he staged, among others, Der Kontrabass (Süsskind) and Outside of Schuld (Sager, together with Hein Trilling ) and with Manfred Wekwerth the Threepenny Opera by Brecht.

Guest directors have taken him to Dresden , Celle , Erfurt , Halle , Hanover , Cologne , Anklam, Rostock , Neustrelitz and Schwerin, among others .

In 1997 he founded the theater ensemble Klassik am Meer in Koserow on Usedom , which he still directs today. In this role he staged Goethe's Faust , Hofmannsthal's Jedermann , Schiller's Kabale und Liebe and, in the summer of 2011, Dürrenmatt's The Visit of the Old Lady with Renate Blume and Wolfgang Winkler in the leading roles. His production of Galileo Galilei , with Jürgen Zartmann in the title role, was recognized by the press, the public and colleagues and was performed over fifty times.

From 2001 to 2011 Jürgen Kern was acting director and head of the theater academy of the Vorpommerschen Landesbühne in Zinnowitz on Usedom and was a major sponsor of z. B. Christian Kühn (director of Comödie Dresden since 2012), Gerrit Hamann and Torsten Schemmel .

Jürgen Kern is married, lives in Berlin and works as a director and actor.
