Destroyed Hope is a German crime film by Peter Hagen from 1991. The television film was released as the 145th episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 .

action

For a long time, the police around Commissioner Jürgen Huebner and Commissioner Lutz Zimmermann have been on the trail of vandals who willfully destroy telephone booths in a new building area. That night, the fifth phone booth that was destroyed was reported, and there were also reports of vandalism on cars and smashed billboards. Behind everything is the clique around leader Buckle, which also includes Alexander, Sioux and the girls Sabine and Grit. Everyone has individual problems in the family: Buckle was thrown out by his parents and now lives in a shabby apartment. Alexander grows up with his mother and does an apprenticeship on the construction site, but it is his mother who always excuses the boy and reports that Alexander is ill even if he has a hangover . Sioux has a broken family and Sabine has a father who is a slave to her and does not recognize that his daughter has long since got off the rails. Only Grit used to be an exemplary student and has even won an award as a talented draftsman. She wanted to become a porcelain painter, but her grades in math and other non-artistic subjects were too bad. She came under the influence of Sabine and has been rebellious ever since. Her academic performance has deteriorated rapidly.

The group meets every evening for drinking tours, be it in their favorite pub or in the youth club run by Silvio. Alexander suspects that Silvio is after Sabine, whom he regards as his girlfriend. There are always minor scuffles between Silvio and Alexander. One day Alexander brings young Karsten, who has dedicated his life to music, to the club. He wants to become a concert pianist and now and then he gets together with Alexander when the guy in the apartment below turns the music up to the highest volume. The club shows that Silvio and Karsten are good friends.

On another day, the group drinks excessively at Buckle and then goes to the club. Silvio refuses entry to the drunken youth. Since Alexander also suspects that Silvio is flirting with Sabine, he wants to give him a lesson. He loosens the bolts on the front wheel of Silvio's motorcycle. The destructive rage of the clique fell victim to a telephone booth and a children's playground that evening. At the end of the day they all stop at their favorite pub, where they pay for their drinks with coins on the cracked phone, as is so often the case. The investigators were able to secure numerous traces of the group at the crime scenes the next day. Meanwhile, Silvio has a serious accident with his manipulated motorcycle. He remains almost uninjured, but his spontaneous passenger Karsten is brought to the hospital with a smashed hand. He will never be able to play the piano again and is depressed about suicide. When Alexander hears about the accident of Karsten, who is sympathetic to him, he is disturbed. Buckle instructs the group to remain silent when questioned by the police. In fact, the investigators have found the clique. All five are arrested. The evidence is enough to prove the deeds to them, even if the clique members incriminate each other during interrogation. However, the clique's confessions do not help Karsten: his lifelong dream has been destroyed.
