Ipomoea setosa , German and Brazilian Prunkwinde called, is a plant type from the kind of morning glories ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is common in America .

description

Ipomoea setosa is a large herbaceous climber . Their sturdy stems and petioles are hairy with somewhat fleshy trichomes . The leaf blade is large and wide, about 10 to 20 cm long and lobed three to seven times deep. The base is heart-shaped. The leaf lobes are ovate or lanceolate, long, pointed.

The inflorescences consist of three to twelve flowers . The inflorescence stalks are as long as or longer than the leaf stalks, they are thick, fleshy and hairy with bristles. The sepals are elongated, blunt, almost leathery and hairy with bristles, 10 to 14 mm long at the flowering time and enlarged on the fruit. The crown is pink or purple in color and 5 to 6 cm long.

The fruits are four-chamber capsules with a length of 1.5 to 2 cm. They contain four seeds , these are hairy and silky.

distribution

The species is distributed in Mexico , Guatemala , British Honduras , Honduras , Nicaragua and in tropical South America . It grows there in damp thickets and on the edges of forests at altitudes below 400 m.
