Iqbal Ahmed Akhund (born August 21, 1924 in Hyderabad ) is a former Pakistani diplomat .

Life

Iqbal Ahmed Akhund is the son of Maryam Shaikh and Abdullah Akhund. On January 19, 1955, he married Yolanda Gombert. They have a daughter and three sons. He studied business administration at the University of Bombay. On October 6, 1949, he joined the Pakistan Foreign Service .

From 1953 to 1963 he was third-class delegation secretary in Madrid and at times business porter . From 1966 to 1968 he headed the South Asia Department in the Foreign Ministry. From 1968 to 1971 he was ambassador with official residence in Cairo . On July 27, 1969, he was additionally accredited to Abdul Rahman al-Iriani as ambassador to the Yemeni Arab Republic . From 1971 to 1972 he was ambassador to Belgrade . From 1973 to 1977 he headed the Pakistani mission at the UN headquarters . From July 31, 1978 to 1980 he was ambassador to Paris .
