Ira Rennert (* 1934 in Brooklyn ) is an American entrepreneur .

Life

Rennert comes from a Jewish family . He studied at Brooklyn College and New York University . After completing his studies, he worked from 1956 as a credit analyst on Wall Street in Manhattan. With the purchase and sale of high-yield bonds , he rose as an entrepreneur. In 1961 he founded his own company IL Rennert & Co. ( Renco ). Rennert is married and has three children. He lives with his family on an estate in Sagaponack , Suffolk County , New York . According to Forbes Magazine , Rennert is one of the richest Americans and is listed in The World's Billionaires .

With MagCorp / US Magnesium in Utah, Ira owns the largest magnesium producer in the USA and one of the largest lead smelters in the world with the Doe Run Company . In 2013, the Doe Run Company closed the last US lead smelter in Herculaneum, Missouri .
