Irene Becker (economist)

Irene Becker (born February 4, 1953 ) is a German economist and non-fiction author .

Life

She completed her studies at the Technical University of Berlin with a degree in economics . Then worked until 1999 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main as a research assistant to Professor Richard Hauser at the Institute for Economics. There she received her doctorate (Dr. oec.) With a dissertation on income redistribution in Germany.

Since 2000 she has been a freelance scientist in various research projects and reports in empirical analyzes. Her work focuses on income and wealth distribution (especially poverty and wealth) as well as social security, analyzes of political reform models (e.g. for family burden balancing) and studies on the measurement of the socio-cultural subsistence level.

Several research projects and studies have been funded by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES).
