The Irgis ( Kazakh Ырғыз Yrghys ; Russian Иргиз ) is a right tributary of the Turgai in Kazakhstan .
The Irgis rises on the eastern slopes of the Mugodschar Mountains in the Kazakh region of Aqtöbe . It flows mainly in a southerly direction to its confluence with the Turgai. The Irgis has a length of 593 km and drains an area of 31,600 km². The Irgis is mainly fed by the snowmelt . In summer the river falls dry in parts. The river is ice-covered between November and April. The mean discharge at the mouth is 7.56 m³ / s.
