Iris Müller (* 1930 in Magdeburg ; † January 30, 2011 in Stuttgart ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Müller studied Protestant theology in the GDR , which she graduated with a diploma in 1958. After completing her studies, she converted to the Roman Catholic Church and fled the GDR in 1959. She then studied Roman Catholic theology at the University of Münster , where she also received her doctorate. After her studies, she continued to work for the ordination of women in the Roman Catholic Church. In the theological faculty of the University of Münster, she founded a library “Women in Religions (mainly: Judaism, Christianity, Islam)”. There she worked with the Roman Catholic theologian Ida Raming , among others .

In 2002 she was one of the seven Roman Catholic women ( Ida Raming , Christine Mayr-Lumetzberger , Adelinde Theresia Roitinger , Gisela Forster , Pia Brunner and Dagmar Braun Celeste ) who were ordained priestess on the Danube by the Argentine Bishop Rómulo Antonio Braschi . The Holy See declared this act invalid. Since Müller did not recognize the nullity of her ordination and showed "no signs of repentance or conversion" until the expiry of a fixed period of reflection, she was excommunicated on August 22, 2002 .
