Irmgard Oepen

Irmgard Oepen (born February 25, 1929 - † July 9, 2018 ) was a German doctor .

Life

Irmgard Oepen studied medicine at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the LMU Munich . In 1958, Oepen received his doctorate from the LMU Munich. In 1973 he completed his habilitation at the Philipps University of Marburg with a blood group serological topic.

From 1965 to 1994, Oepen worked at the Institute for Forensic Medicine at Philipps University in Marburg. Oepen earned a reputation for her committed advocacy for scientific medicine. She published numerous critical articles and books on the subject of blood group and blood trace detection as well as on "unconventional medical methods" and was also quoted in media such as DIE ZEIT . She published various works with the famous forensic doctor Otto Prokop .

Oepen was one of the founding members of the Society for the Scientific Investigation of Parasciences (GWUP). From 1987 to 1994 she was president of the GWUP. From 1987 to 1996 she was the editor of Skeptiker magazine .
