Irmhild Warweg

Irmhild Warweg (born February 9, 1905 in Hanover ; † May 6, 1983 there ) was a German illustrator and graphic artist .

Life

After graduating from high school, she studied figurative drawing and commercial graphics at the Werkkunstschule Hannover . Then Irmhild Warweg worked in a graphics company. Here she met her husband, the painter and graphic artist Erich Warweg . In 1936 both started their own business in Hanover-Bemerode .

The focus of Irmhild Warweg's work was on illustrations for various publications and printed matter. After the Second World War she took over the illustration of reading books in the British occupation zone with stories about Willi and Dora ( Dohrmann - primer ). Today the Irmhild-Warweg-Straße in Hanover-Bemerode is a reminder of the draftsman and illustrator.

  • New Primer, Part 3 (title and content illustrations),
  • Low German reading book (title and content illustrations). All in the Hahnsche Buchhandlung Verlag, Hanover, appeared in the post-war years.
  • To the zoo, picture book for children.
  • Design of the reception area with wall drawings in the Cecilienstift Children's Hospital, Hanover.
