Paul Dohrmann

Paul Dohrmann (born January 7, 1900 in Hanover ; † July 28, 1957 ibid) was a German educator and textbook author.

Life

After completing the teachers' seminar, he taught from 1926 in Lower Saxony at a so-called " auxiliary school ". In 1945 he was appointed rector of a primary school , a little later he became a district school councilor, then a government councilor and finally, from 1948 until his death, head school councilor of the city of Hanover.

Services

During his time as a school councilor, Paul Dohrmann focused on the development of curative education and on the development of modern auxiliary and special schools, which became a model throughout the FRG. He also developed the method of holistic reading and writing lessons , which was spread through his Dohrmann primers in the Federal Republic. In 1949 he was also elected first chairman of the newly founded Association of German Aid Schools .
