Irmtraud von Andrian-Werburg

Irmtraud Freifrau von Andrian-Werburg (born November 9, 1943 in Mainz as Irmtraud Liebeherr ; † April 20, 2019 in Nuremberg ) was a German historian ; she was archive director at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg.

Live and act

Irmtraud von Andrian-Werburg, daughter of a bank manager, studied history and trained as a senior archive service.

In 1986 she succeeded Ludwig Veit as archive director at the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg . Here, until her retirement in 2008, she worked primarily for the Archive for Fine Arts , which was founded in 1964 and renamed the German Art Archive in 2008 . She was an honorary member of the Oswald von Wolkenstein Society .

She was married to the archivist Klaus von Andrian-Werburg († 2004) since 1982 .
