Ironbound is the 15th studio album by the US thrash metal band Overkill . It was released in January 2010 by Nuclear Blast / E1 Music .

Origin and style

Ironbound is Overkills' first album on the label Nuclear Blast (Europe) and E1 Music (USA). The album was announced in advance as a "real Thrasher part". Bobby Elsworth was positive about the label change. The album was mixed by Peter Tägegren . This was followed by a European tour in February 2010.

reception

The album was the first since I Hear Black in 1993 to reach number 192 on the Billboard 200 . In Germany , too, it reached number 31, the highest chart position for an overkill album. In the magazine Rock Hard it was in the reader poll evaluation, which summarized the reader charts of 2011, in second place of all albums. It received mostly good reviews from the critics. Allmusic's Gregory Heaney awarded four out of five stars. He wrote that Ironbound shows that sometimes the old ways are best. Although the album is not a masterpiece, it is a snapshot of one of the Thrash Metal bands that have gotten better and better over time and have not been crushed by their own weight.
