The Electric Age is the 16th studio album by the US thrash metal band Overkill . It was released in March 2012 by Nuclear Blast / E1 Music .
Origin and style
Most of the songs on The Electric Age were written by Blitz Ellsworth and DD Verni . In addition, guitarist Dave Linsk contributed a lot to the song material. Elsworth said Linsk “sprayed” “ideas.” The album was recorded at Gain Studios in New Jersey . Regarding Come and Get It , Ellsworth said it had a " Clint Eastwood feel" to it. Wish You Were Dead , according to Ellsworth, is not a reference to Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here , but rather inspired by the American idiom. Save Yourself had the working title Rapid Fire and is a stylistic reference to Rob Halford . Old Wounds, New Scars , Ellsworth was referring to his own face, which looked "like a damn map".
reception
The album received positive reviews. The website metalassault.com awarded ten out of ten points. Kai Butterweck from laut.de described the album as captivating and impulsive, the album was in no way inferior to the previous album Ironbound "in terms of dynamism, wit and energy" .
