Isaac Hirschland (full name: Isaac Simon Hirschland ; * February 20, 1845 in Essen ; † April 3, 1912 ibid) was a German-Jewish banker, city ​​councilor of the city of Essen and councilor of commerce .

As the second son of the founder of the Simon Hirschland Bank , Simon Hirschland and his wife Marianne Isaac, the banker Isaac Hirschland expanded the business through stakes in mining. After completing his commercial training, he entered the banking business in 1874 and took it over after his father's death in 1885. Since then he has led the bank to what was then the greatest importance in the Ruhr area . His most important customers included the members of the industrial family Krupp , the industrialist Friedrich Grillo and the entrepreneur Mathias Stinnes .

In addition, as long-time chairman of the board of the synagogue community, Hirschland campaigned for the employment of the first rabbi of the Jewish community in Essen, Salomon Samuel . The purchase of the property for the later construction of the Old Synagogue goes back to his initiative , the inauguration of which he no longer witnessed.

Isaac Hirschland gave a speech at the inauguration of the Höhere Töchterschule in 1896, today's Maria-Wächtler-Gymnasium . In 1905, Hirschland was given the title of Kommerzienrat and in 1909 the Red Eagle Order, 4th class . From 1892 until his death he was a city councilor for the city of Essen.

Isaac Hirschland married on August 3, 1874 in Cologne Henriette Simon (1851-1935), the daughter of one of Lechenich originating real estate businessman . They had two daughters and four sons. The eldest daughter Agathe married the Jew Ernst Grünebaum from Hamm , with whom she had two sons who also entered the banking business. The first-born son Franz in 1880 emigrated to the USA and initially worked for Bethlehem Steel . Later he went to NY Hanseatic Corp., which became a lifeline for the Jewish Hirschland family, who had fled Germany during the Nazi era . The son Kurt Martin, born in 1882, entered his father's banking business with his brother Georg, born in 1885, and both took over in 1912 after their father's death.

Isaac Hirschland was buried in the Jewish cemetery on Reckhammerweg .
