Isar (born April 22, 1983 in Berlin , real name: Engin Deniz Rohde ) is a rapper and founder of the label "Dreh am Rad".

Life

Rohde is the son of a German musician and a Turkish social worker and trained as an educator. Finding an identity in the midst of two cultures and growing up as part of Neukölln's multi-cultural society in a so-called problem district shaped his style of music from an early age. He started at the age of 13 - inspired by American rap greats like Tupac and Dr. Dre - with the black horse and after moving to the Berlin district of Kreuzberg, met rapper Mach One, who recognized his talent and made him the tenth member of the Bassboxxx crew.

His sound was always characterized by a mixture of hardness and melancholy. In 2002 his first tracks appeared on the Bassboxxx Clique sampler; From this time he can show countless collaborations, u. a. with artists like Mach One , One Files, MC Bogy , Jope or MC Basstard .

After the break-up of the Bassboxxx crew in autumn 2002, Isar founded a new crew with Mach One, B-Lash and Darn under the name "Adrenalin Musik". Together they released a mixtape in 2005. In the following years, numerous features and collabos with rappers of various styles followed, such as Vero One , She-Raw , Sha-Karl , Frauenarzt , DJ Korx , King Orgasmus One and Taktloss , which not only expanded Isar's discography but also his musical range considerably let. He is now featured on more than 20 albums.

His first solo album, “Berliner Bär”, with which he presented himself to the German rap scene at the end of August 2007, reflects his career up to this point. Deep solo tracks, storytellers, but also battle / representative tracks and features with almost all the artists who have accompanied him since the beginning of his musical career, as well as legends such as Kool Savas and Azad made "Berliner Bär" a very special debut.

In 2013 he accompanied Mach One on its tour in 22 cities and in 2015 he founded his own label "Dreh am Rad", where he signed the rapper KARAZ, who in 2017 released the EP "Identity" there. The label's distribution partner is Groove Attack. Isar's album “Streifzug” was also released in 2015, with which he entered the German hip-hop charts at number 11 and on which he was able to get the old Bassboxxx crew together for a song and win well-known producers such as Djorkaeff. At the moment (as of autumn 2018) Isar is working on a new EP and takes care of his artist Karaz.
