The Isdalen ( Norwegian glacial valley ) is an icy valley in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It lies between the Aurdalsegga and Isdalsegga mountain ranges in the southern Petermann chain of the Wohlthat massif .
The valley was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping based on our own aerial photographs and measurements as well as the descriptive naming were carried out during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
