Isidoro San José Pozo (born October 27, 1955 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish football player .

Career

society

San José moved to Real Madrid's youth department at the age of 12 and made his debut in the professional squad at the age of 18 when he played the quarter and semifinals of the Copa del Generalísimo in 1974 against FC Granada and UD Las Palmas . From 1974 to 1976 he played for the club's second team, Castilla CF , before he was permanently accepted into the professional squad. In the 1976/77 season he initially played only three league games, but in the following three years he established himself as a regular player, completed 77 league matches and won three consecutive Spanish championship titles with Real Madrid. At the end of 1979 he injured his meniscus in a league game against RCD Español and had to take a year and a half off. When he won the final in the 1981/82 cup season , he was freshly recovered for the first time on the bench. In his last two years at Real Madrid, San José only played 30 league games. At this point he had already lost his regular place to Chendo . Nevertheless, he played his part in ensuring that the club won the UEFA Cup in 1985 and 1986 , the Copa de la Liga in 1985 and the Spanish championship again in the 1985/86 season .

At the age of 32, San José ended his career after playing 17 league games for RCD Mallorca in the 1986/87 season and helping the club to stay up. He then worked in the service of the Real Madrid Foundation and led various football camps for children.

National team

San José took part in the 1976 Olympic football tournament with Spain's U-23 selection . On November 30, 1977 he made his debut in the World Cup qualifying match against Yugoslavia in the senior national team . At the 1978 World Cup , he played all the preliminary round matches, but missed qualifying for the second round with Spain. His 13th and last international match he played on November 14, 1979 against Denmark .
