Copa del Generalísimo 1972/73

The Copa del Generalísimo 1973/74 was the 70th staging of the Spanish soccer cup competition , which takes place today under the name Copa del Rey .

The competition started on September 26, 1973 and ended with the final on June 29, 1974 at the Estadio Vicente Calderón in Madrid . The application of the away goals rule has been abolished again this cup season. The defending champion of the cup competition was Atlético Bilbao . Real Madrid won the title by beating FC Barcelona 4-0 in the final . This qualified the Madrilenians for the European Cup Winners' Cup 1974/75 .

Since Spain did not qualify for the tournament, most of the Real Madrid and CF Barcelona players were able to take part in the cup final.
