The 1980/81 Copa del Rey was the 77th edition of the Spanish Football Cup .
The competition started on September 10, 1980 and ended with the final on June 18, 1981 at the Estadio Vicente Calderón in Madrid . The defending champion of the cup competition was Real Madrid . FC Barcelona won the title with a 3-1 win in the final against Sporting Gijón . This qualified the Catalans for the European Cup Winners' Cup 1981/82 .
First round
The first legs were played on September 10, 16, 17, 18, 24 and 25 and on October 22, the second legs on September 16, 24, 25 and 30 and on September 1, 2. , October 8, 15 and 29, 1980.
Second round
The first legs were played on November 18 and 19, the second legs on November 27 and on December 2, 3, 4 and 9, 1980.
- ↑ Due to poor visibility in the Estadio Balaídos , the penalty shoot-out was postponed to the day after the second leg.
Third round
The first legs were played on January 6th and 7th, the second legs on January 20, 21 and 28, 1981.
