The Copa del Generalísimo 1942 was the 38th edition of the Spanish soccer cup competition , which takes place today under the name Copa del Rey .
The competition started on April 26th and ended with the final on June 21st, 1942 at the Estadio Chamartín in Madrid . Defender of the Cup competition was FC Valencia . CF Barcelona won the title with a 4-3 win after extra time in the final against Atlético Bilbao .

After Generalissimo Francisco Franco arrived in the main stand ten minutes after the start of the game, referee Manuel Ocaña interrupted the game. Thereupon the players of both teams turned to the dictator and greeted him with raised arms amid frenetic "Franco, Franco, Franco" chants of the audience.
