The Copa del Generalísimo 1948/49 was the 45th edition of the Spanish soccer cup competition , which takes place today under the name Copa del Rey .
The competition started on September 4, 1948 and ended with the final on May 29, 1949 in the Nuevo Estadio Chamartín in Madrid . The defending champion of the cup competition was Sevilla FC . Valencia CF won the title by beating Atlético Bilbao 1-0 in the final .
