The 1989/90 Copa del Rey was the 86th edition of the Spanish Football Cup.

The competition started on September 6, 1989 and ended with the final on April 5, 1990 in the Estadio Luís Casanova ( Valencia ). The defending champion of the cup competition was Real Madrid . FC Barcelona won the title by beating Real Madrid 2-0 in the final. This qualified the Catalans for the 1990/91 European Cup Winners' Cup .

The final took place on April 5, 1990 at the Estadio Luis Casanova in Valencia . The game had to be interrupted several times as objects were repeatedly thrown onto the field. After the game, Andoni Zubizarreta was hit in the head by a glass bottle and injured during the “lap of honor” for the winner FC Barcelona.
