Guillermo Amor Martínez (born December 4, 1967 in Benidorm ) is a former Spanish football player and current football coach . He played mostly in midfield .
Career
Guillermo Amor started his career at FC Barcelona , where he was one of the key players in coach Johan Cruyff's dream team . Among other things, he was Spanish champion and Champions League winner with the Catalans. Amor played a total of 564 games in the FC Barcelona jersey, making him the third-largest player for the club (behind Migueli with 670 games and Rexach with 665 games). For the 1998/99 season Amor moved to Fiorentina , where he was used regularly, but could not play in the regular squad. For the 2000/01 season he then moved to Villarreal . He then ended his career at the Scottish club Livingston FC , where he signed a six-month contract in January 2003.
After retiring from his career, he signed a four-year contract with Barcelona, which should make him jointly responsible for Barça's youth work. When his contract wasn't renewed in 2007, he decided to leave.
National team
For eight years (1990-1998) Amor was one of the regular players in midfield of the Spanish national team and played a total of 37 internationals. He made his first game on November 14, 1990 against Czechoslovakia (2: 3). He was part of the Selección squad at the European Championships in 1996 and the 1998 World Cup . His last game for Spain on September 5, 1998 in the European Championship qualification was a bitter one, losing to Cyprus 2: 3.
